SpeedyHire Analysis

The site I shall be analysing is http://www.speedyhire.com. Speedyhire is a UK national based company which hire out tools and equipment for all sectors of the building industry. The purpose is to market all the goods available for hire and to promote the business and the service prodided. The intended audience for this site is mixed as Speedyhire offer both on-site equipment such as portable cabins to scissor lifts aimed for Building companies, but also household electrical equipment for the average family. Speedyhire main aim is to attract the big building firms as obliviously they would make more money from this.
This website is very clear and concise in the service which is been offered. The common theme throughout the website is each page offers a different type of equipment, positioned to the left of the page under a clear understandable title “products for hire”. This has to be the best strength for this website, its nothing flashy or complicated. However the fact that each page is so dull has to be a negative side to the website. Each page is designed the same with title across the top links to the left and goods down the middle. The memorability of this website is also a key strength, I think the simplicity really makes this site effective. Furthermore navigation is also very simple and as previously mentioned important information is visible and concise adding to the efficiency of the website. The use of the companies colours (red and blue) I find very drawing, as a viewer on this page any red link is clearly visible and the blue adds to the consistent theme throughout. On the homepage a moving slideshow is a very clever and effective way of marketing the companies goods before even browsing what the customer requires. Position centre of the page even when looking for the desired link your attention is drawn to this slideshow.
Due to the nature of this business, advertising jobs on their internet site is essential. All jobs are sorted by date and location again making everything accessible. The layout of the application as expected was basic, simply listed Title, Address, Telephone etc. When I was completing an application I didn’t come across any real faults, the drop down boxes for title and postcode search made everything easy to follow. Also when uploading my Curriculum Vitae the upload took a matter of a second.  Soon as my application was completed within two minutes I received an email to say my application would be processed. This shows the efficiency of both the company and also the website. However after completing my application I was unable to manoeuvre back around the website, any links to go home, careers, shopping etc wouldn’t load. Having spent time on this website this is on the only major fault I feel I experienced but for any website this has to be the largest and mostly costly fault.
